Upper Back, Shoulders & Neck Workshop

- Understand the anatomy of the upper spine and shoulders and the surrounding tissues
- The importance of posture, strength and stability of the upper spine and shoulders
- Address common causes of upper back, neck and shoulder pain
- Learn techniques, including yoga postures, to relieve pain and instability in these regions
The workshop will begin with a presentation by the knowledgeable and extremely engaging Garry Lavis from Rathmines Physiotherapy, and it will conclude with Ginny Clarke from The Yoga Shack leading you through a yoga therapy class focused on stabilizing and mobilizing the upper spine and shoulders.
Not only will you leave the workshop with a strong upper spine and supple shoulders, but you will be provided with simple and effective postures you can use at home to continue the healing process.
Yoga experience is not necessary. You’ll learn everything you need on the day.
About the Presenters
Garry Lavis is the founder of Platinum Training and has been a Remedial Massage Therapist for 12 years. Playing rugby league professionally and also competing in the Subaru Triathlon Series in Ontario Canada for 4 years, Garry has developed a keen interest in the shoulder. Garry has an excellent understanding of the Massage industry having been on the National Board of Directors for the Australian Association of Massage Therapists for 8 years, 4 as National President and 10 years as the AAMT National Conference Committee Chairman. Garry has presented workshops and lectures both Nationally and Internationally. Garry is the co-owner of a large multi-disciplinary rehabilitation clinic in the lower Hunter Valley in NSW and employs Physiotherapists, Remedial Massage Therapists and Podiatrists. Garry’s caseload of clients varies from everyday office workers, tradesmen, elite level athletes including World Champions at individual events, MMA cage fighters and a V8 supercar driver.
Ginny Clarke is a devoted yoga teacher and yoga therapist and co-owner of The Yoga Shack. She has been teaching yoga for 15 years and her passion is to help people know their bodies intimately and work towards healing mind, body and spirit through the vast array of techniques and wisdom which yoga offers.
